Twice. Once, post-Resurrection, when Jesus breathed on them and said: "Receive ye the Holy Ghost" - and again at the First Pentecost.

That is not recorded... befor the Holy Spirit decended upon the apostles on the day of pentacost when The Church was established the Holy Spirit did not stat in an individual. Even the most faithful... The Holy Spirit came and did what was needed for, or tobe done by, God's people and then departed.... Now, Since the Founding of The Church The Holy Spirit indwells those who come to God as He prescribes and who receive His free gift of Salvation... so... the HOly Spirit came into the Apostles to stay on The Day The Church was founded... it is not recorded how many times The Holy Spirit had visited each Apostle before that.....now it is once per believer and that is for the duration of mortal life.

It is given once, but not only to the apostles. To all of the 120 waiting in the upper room (out of the 500 Jesus TOLD to wait). However, this gift was not then withdrawn, but was actually promised to all beleivers... If your question is, was it ONLY given to the apostles, the answer tot hat is No. He is the promise of all beleivers. Receiving is a matter of acceptance and faith.
There are several instrances in the bible following the Upper Room of both new converts and those who were already beleivers receiving the Holy Spirit long after the upper room. For example, at the time of Penetcost, Paul was still Saul, and was just about to embark on a career of killing followers of Christ. But much later he himself was "Baptized int he Holy Spirit". He then preached this to others, and they were baptized as well.
So the Holy Spirit comes to each at a different time, but the First advent only occurs once. Once he arrived that first time, he stayed.
