My 2 year feist sometimes knaws on his foot and toenails . He gets his nails trimmed as reccomended so I pretty well know thats not it. I've noticed he does it mostly when we are not paying him a lot of attention ( dont worry he is spoiled rotten and gets attention all the time) Do you think this is his sneeky little way to MAKE us play with him at that moment?

All dogs feet itch and if he's outside a lot, his pads might be dry, itchy feeling. Everyonce in a while, after my dogs get a bath, I use vaseline on their pads. Also, dirt can make their skin feel ichy too. OCD is highly unlikely.

He may just be trimming them on his own. Some dogs chew their feet when they have a skin irritation, like fleas or an allergy rash. But you may be onto something with the attention. He may have learned what works!

Many times, dogs that excessively lick or bite their paws have a food allergy.
