I know how you feel. Medication can make a huge impact to the dogs quality of life, and my dog was happy and was given a good extra few months. I hate to say it, but I'm sure you are aware 14 is a good age for any dog, expecially if he is a larger breed. Remember, his happiness and comfort comes first. There may be a time you have to make an uncomfortable decision. BUT, trust in the vets advice and your own instinct. Try not to worry, make the most of each day and think that you are doing your best for him. Good luck.

In the clinic we treated dogs for various heart problems and saw many on pills live comfortably for quite some time. Your dog is very old...enjoy each day with him.

Don't think of the things that make you worried think of the things that make you happy such as the good times you have had with your beloved puppy. My dog is 6 and she has live problems and she worries me because she is pretty slow and she isn't that old. I love her so I think of the things that me and my dog love to do together it makes me completely forget about my worries.

No I haven't had a dog with heart disease, but the best thing for the dog is to continue what you are doing ..........and The most important..........Is to give POSITIVE RE-ENFORCEMENT.......that came from my dogs oncologist............over 2 + years since chemo. And doing great!
Good Luck.........we just LOVE our buddies so much!!!!!!!!!!
