ying is a chinese word meaning the dark side and yang means light and sunshine. to me, ying-yang means the dark side and the bright side

It's actually yin-yang. Chinese idea of a universal and eternal duality. Yin is the female energy and yang is the male energy. One can not exist without the other. Yin energy is passive, yang energy is active. We need a balance of these energies in us to function in a balanced way.
