Like many above users said, if a school is reputable it would not have to stoop to such levels to draw in customers. It's better to not attend at all and save the money, than joining a McDojo. Look for alternatives to that school. Since many Tae Kwon Do schools in the US are McDojo's your better off finding a different martial art to study.

I took this to mean your mom would get you the ipod shuffle.....but i guess i could be wrong.
If you had this dilemna about a year ago, i could suggest smoking cigs. Camel gives away ipod shuffles for about 150 camel points i think...maybe 250. The smoking would help you lose weight and the money spent towards it would get you the ipod shuffle.
Just to point out though, towards your decision....IPOD shuffles are pretty horrible. It has no screen, so you can't really chose what song to hear next without constantly hitting next and waiting for it to randomally land on the song you want.
Martial arts though, as long as they are not in it just for the money....probably get a really good work out, so if you are interested in losing weight and atleast learning something about defending yourself. Might wanna do that without taking the ipod into consideration.

As a martial arts instructor and owner of a DoJang I must tell you to not attend the school. I can't believe they must resort to tactics like that. I do recent the coment about Tae Kwon Do being only MCdojos but must tell you that the quality of martial Arts in the United States has being suffering for a while. Specialy on the aspect of values.
Dont be ashame to start classes at any age. I got students from all ages including adults learning Tae Kwon Do and other martial Arts. A few years ago i even had a 68 year old man taking my classes and he was doing great and even better that some students half his age. look for a school that lets you watch the classes and even trying them out for free.
Good luck

No reputable school would resort to such methods. They probably have an issue with maintaining students, so they offer the giveaway if you sign an extended contract. He must have competition from somewhere. My advice is to find that school and check them out.
