as a pilot, you don't need a degree however like any other job you will have a better chance for finding the job when you have a university degree.
You need pilot's licenses, there are several options:

PPL : Private Pilot's License, you can fly all single-engine airplanes in good weather conditions and you can carry passengers but not for hire.
you need to have completed a minimum of 45 flight hours to be eligible for this license.

CPL : Commercial Pilot's License, previleges are pretty much the same as PPL except you can carry passengers for hire and also you have the privilege to fly at night.you need to have completed a minimum of 200 flight hours to be eligible for this license.

ATPL : Airline Transport Pilot's License, which you can act as pilot in command of airliners with. you need to have completed a minimum of 1500 flight hours to be eligible for this license.

There are also some ratings that add privileges to the above licenses:
ME : Multi Engine
IR : Instrument Rating (for flying in low visibility)

You'll need a commercial Pilot's liscence if you want to be an airline pilot. Otherwise you can become a recreational pilot or an airforce pilot. I think in the airforce they only let officers be pilots (and if you don't have a degree, you can't be an officer)...

A lot of commercial airline pilots come from the airforce, but you can take college courses in aviation or join a private aviation school.

To land the job as a pilot you need hundreds of flight hours, too

You don't need any degrees , but it does help to have high grades as per intelligence ,because you have to first pass ground courses, intermingled with recreational pilot lessons of many hours , to acquire first your solo certificate and then further up in the different categories each consists of further technical and hours of flying in different more sophisticated planes , night flying , weather conditions etc. each time you require to pass exams and receive certificates of level achieved , not to mention medical and sight check ups .

You don't need a degree. You need hours as pilot in command. This information is available in the AIM.

Most of the major airlines require you to have both your ratings as well as degree. You can get hired by a commuter but I don't think they will move you up to the majors without a degree.

well it depends on the airline job you want. you can get a bachelors in commercial aviation and that would help because most colleges also let you get all of the ratings needed. you may be able to go ahead and get all of your ratings and then go to an airline academy.

I suggest a degree.

Most major airlines have a strong strong preference for a degree.
Many demand it.
Not to say you can't succeed without it....but if you aspire to the majors....yer gonna need it
