I heard their was a bike trail from main to Atlanta do you know were i can find out more information on this?

Adventure Cycling publishes a route similar to that:

Note this is a route for road touring, not a trail.

There's a group linking up rail-trails and bike paths along the east coast, but right now it's just talk and a bunch of disconnected sections.

The Appalachian Trail runs from Maine to Georgia but I dont think the entire thing is bike friendly. It is mostly for hiking.

If it is the Appalaition trail your thinking of, it is closed to cyclists. There was recently a new section opened in the south that completes a 400 mile trail for cyclists, but I dont know the name.
