I am not a toy, but my kitten thinks I am!?

Question

My kitten bites his little fleece rope the same way he bites me. Whenever I pet him, he just bites me like a toy. He is comfortable with me, I know it. But I have no clue why he is still like this after some months. Help would be greatly appreciated.

All cats bite and scratch and kick when they play. But just like children they must be taught acceptable behavior. If you speak sternly to him saying "NO" he might eventually get the message. Shaking my finger at my cat, saying "NO" only got my finger attacked! But he was a wild abandoned farm kitten when we got him. Now, at 10 years old ,he still bites ,scratches and kicks, but doesn't bite hard or use his claws on bare skin. He has an oven mitt that we wear for him to be rough with. When he forgets the rules I cry "OW!" and he stops and licks me.Hope that helped!

For a kitten everything is a toy! My male cat didn't settle down till he was almost 2. He is almost 4 now and is still very active, but doesn't use me as a toy very often. That privilege is reserved for 3am random attacks on my toes!

He might be teething. My kitty bites me even though he has toys all over the place. I wouldn't worry about it because he will probably grow out of it like my other cat did. =]

well all wild kittens act like that. i dont mean stray kittens by the way they bit and scratch thats just what they do best=)

I had one that would climb my bare legs like a tree...they tend to lose the craziness after a year or so.

You may have to teach him that you're not a chew toy. He'll outgrow it after a year or so.

My Cat does the Same to me, and i like that, that's the way cats are they r so playful and cute.
