If people call you crazy and then twitch at you then I'd have to say there is something wrong with them...it's really cruel of someone to do this.

Hon, not all crazy people twitch and crazy isn't even a proper word for people with severe mental illness. Crazy is typically, and unfairly, applied to someone who is so severely mentally ill that they've lost touch with reality and are not aware of their actions and how they affect others. Also crazy can be a catch-all phrase used by someone who is ignorant about any type of mental illness and uses this word because they have no idea of the pain and suffering that those who struggle with mental illness may be going through.

Twitching can be a symptom of a lot of illnesses, (for example Tourette's syndrome, Epilepsy and Parkinson's disease) or it can be caused by severe anxiety, exhaustion or side-effects of medication. It's not a guage of someone's sanity.

As a retired mental health practitioner with 20+ years experience, I can tell you that, as a rule, "crazy" or mentally ill people don't twitch more than supposedly sane individuals. Especially since psychiatric medication has greatly improved over the time I was in practice and afterwards, even the side effects of many have been removed, so what you might call "twitching" as gone away. Twitching as an evidence of another mental disorder, called a Tic, still happens, but those individuals are not necessarily mentally ill, so you have to be specific when you're talking about symptoms. God Bless you.

Well, most don't so the generalization isn't really valid.

BUT, some people actually "twitch" because of the medications they are on to treat the illness. Specifically, until recently, some anti-psychotics created a condition called "tardive dyskinesia." This was characterized by grimacing, tongue protrusion, lip smacking, puckering and pursing, and rapid eye blinking, as well as rapid movements of the arms, legs, and trunk. This was such a problem that many people would stop taking their medications to prevent this horrible side-effect. Newer medications are much better and don't have these results (at least not as frequently)

If it's a tic you are talking about, it is Tourette syndrome and they can't help it. They are not any more crazy than you are. It is an anxiety disorder that they are born with.

If you are talking about uncontrollable movements that schizophrenics and bipolars have, it is probably caused by the medicine thay take to control their mental illness. The movements are called tardive dyskinesia.

Your thinking that people do ANYTHING toward you is probably not even true.

Low self esteem makes you think other people are talking about you and whispering behind your back, when they are NOT EVEN doing it!!

Satan puts the stupidest thoughts in your head. You have to stop that negative thought before you even finish it!!

People GENERALLY don't care about other people--much LESS_twitching.

What kind of generalization is that? Your ignorance amazes me . . .

Why don't you go on to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill's website and ask them that question?

Who do you have in mind?
Some people who are considered "normal" have a twitch.
