I injured my shoulder once and the trainer at my school told me not to take advil, tylenol, or moltrein, instead take anti inflammatory such as ibuprofen. But isn't ibuprofen in advil, tylenol, or moltrein? wouldn't that make those anti inflammatory also?

Tylenol=Acetaminophen, 4'-hydroxyacetanilide, is a non-opiate, non-salicylate analgesic does not contain ibuprofen there is no aspirin in Tylenol

Motrin MOTRIN tablets contain ibuprofen which possesses analgesic and antipyretic activities. Its mode of action, like that of other NSAIDs, is not completely understood, but may be related to prostaglandin synthetase inhibition.

Advil = Ibuprofin is the generic name for Advil

All of these medications should be discussed with the pharmasist before you use them. They all have side effects that you may not be aware of.

Advil and Motrin are ibuprofen, one and the same. Ibuprofen is the generic form, cheaper to buy, by the way, than the brand names. Tylenol is acetaminophen, a pain reliever, but not a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen.

You're partially right...Advil and Motrin are in fact simply ibuprofen, just brand names. Tylenol is not ibuprofen, it is acetaminophen. Tylenol is primarily used as a fever reducer and pain killer where as ibuprofen is primarily used as an anti-inflammatory for injuries, headaches, etc. Ibuprofen can also be used as a fever reducer but should be used in conjunction with Tylenol.

Advil and Motrin are like ibprofen , anti-inflammatroy. Tylenol is an acetmetaphen pain killer not ibprofen. I know this is confusing. talk to a pharmacsist. They will help with the confusion.
