I have owned budgies (or they have owned me, hahahaha!!) off and on since the early 1970's, and I have had quite a few, but am not good at naming them. But then, I had a boy I named "Blue Boy", for obvious reasons (he was bright blue), and a girl I named "Green Girl", again for obvious reasons (she was green) and a nice silver / gray one I names "Silver Bird". So you can see that I went for the obvious in names. Maybe that had to do with the fact that I was in college and my mind was being used for a lot of studying, and my creativity for naming my birds was no where to be found. For the most part, you "sex" a budgie based on the color of their nose. If it's blue, it's a boy. If it's brown or flesh color, it's a girl. Some "hybrids", which yours sounds like it may be, it can be quite confusing on sexing them since the nose colors aren't so definite. You can also sex the bird based on the fact that the males are much more streamlined in their anatomy, whereas the females are more rounded, or "blunt". The males are much better flyers, so if you let yours out in your house and it really flies fast and turns corners sharply and with ease, you've got a male. If it seems to make a lot of wind noise with its wings but doesn't go all that fast, and doesn't "corner" as well, then you have a female. Also, depending on the age of the bird, the nose colors may not have come into fruition as yet, but will soon. Your's sounds beautiful. Males are usually the ones who sing more too, so, you might just have a male. I bet it's beautiful. Take good care of him and you'll have a true friend for as long as he lives. If you keep him alone he will be easier to finger-train, so, just think of that when you try to decide whether to get another one. God Bless you.

Ok, male Buddgies have a blue cere ( that little part right above their beaks were their nostrils are) . A female has whitish or brownish cere.
I have had a few in the past
Petey
Blue Bell
Romeo and Juliet
Most of the time people give their pets human names. Look the bird in the face it will come to you and you will know what to name it.

Awwwww, it sounds so cute!! Name it "lemon." because it is yellow. I think birds in particular should be named because of their color, and it's always really really cute when they're named after food... I'm not sure why but birds usually have better names associated with food. You could also name it:
1. Mustard (not NEARLY as cute as lemon, though)
2. Vanilla (because he's such a sweetie)
3. Lemon (I still think it's the best)
All those names are good for boys and girls. Or, you could name him based on his personality:
1. Nip (if he's kinda fiesty)
2. fizz (if he's always excited or hyper)
3. Lemon (because it's the best name I have thought of yet.)

Males have blue noses. Females have a tannish color or dark brown.
If the bird is still a baby, it will be harder to tell the sex, but if it is a definite blue, then it is a definite male.
Keep that in mind if and when you do get another budgie, so you dont have any unplanned courtship.

I named my budgie Conrad. Named her after Conrad Birdie from "Bye Bye Birdie". She turned out to be a girl but I like the name anyway.

if it has a blue colour on top of its beak it is a male
if its brown beige or tan female
if its pink it is a baby
human names make you closer to your pet but why not call it a unisex name such as cookie or ginger or sunrise
