There are approximately two dozen Unitarian Christian Churches within the UUA. There are several independent Unitarian Christian Churches not associated with the UUA. That said, most Unitarian Christians in the 21st century can be found in smaller faith groups, home churches, and members of the Unitarian Christian merging Church (www.UCEC.US) Norway, Canada, U,K,, India, Transylvania, Hungary, Italy, Poland and France all have Christian Unitarian Fellowships which come under the larger umbrella of the ICUU, but not directly influenced by the UUA. A confusing paradigm at best. Most Unitarian Societies (Churches) in America are not Christian or faith oriented to any specific faith rather they are eclectic, agnostic or atheistic.

I thought the Unitarians were Deists. That is a different thing from a Christian.
Ok, I have just read Wiki on both Unitarians and Unitarian Christians. My head hurts, I think I need a shot of rum. I am not able to answer about numbers. Possibly a Unitarian web site would have that or religioustolerance.com or adherants.com might

The world was full of Unitarian churches until their political and physical defeat when Emperor Constantine sided with the Trinitarians to help establish his empire with the help of Christian church. The Unitarians were then forced under-ground but continued practicing their faith (oneness of God and Jesus as Prophet only).Their books were burned with the order of Trinitarian Church and the Emperor (a copy of the Gospel of Barnabas survived). Majority of Unitarians in the Middle East and Asia Minor accepted Islam that had the same creed as the Unitarians with regards to the belief in God and Jesus as human prophet. This Unitarian population did not need any push to come in the fold of Islam since the creed was the same with the addition of the Muhammad being a Prophet who came to correct the alterations that crept into the pure teachings of Jesus such as Trinity. People talk of swords and conversion and totally ignore these facts that the population with creed similar to Islam had been pushed underground who came out with the advent of Islam and entered the fold.
Here is some info what happened to Unitarian Church after the First Council of Nice called by Emperor Constantine to declare Trinity as the state religion and suppress Unitarian church: http://essenes.net/CouncilOfNicea.html
