All countries reach a plateau in their population increase, eventually. According to projections from the early 70s, we should be over 8 billion by now. But we're only 6.6 billion now. Why? Because population projections don't take into account that increase slows down once resources (including jobs) are not enough to sustain the population.
The only cases when mass starvation occurs is when an extraordinary phenomenon happens: the potato rot in Ireland, the drought in the Sahel, the catterpillar pest in North Korea, the plague of locusts in the Middle East, etc.
As a norm, the land won't have more people than it can support. Humans are just another animal species, no matter what our own arrogance wants to think about us.

Will the melting pot hold together? I don't think its likely that it will. If the different ethnic groups are more equal in size to each other, I think that the people will stick together and try to maintain one strong country. But if one group continues to rise in population and cultural influence while other groups dwindle, then I think the country will divide into at least 3 or more third world nations. I'm gonna catch he*l for this, ain't I?

When the water table and the air quality go south, and they finally cut the last pine tree, it'll pretty much suck to be us, I think. Never mind jobs, public health and so forth, overcrowding, and the poverty that'll likely come along with it, and some of these things are already manifesting themselves at 300 million people. People need to find other hobbies besides having 4 kids, and other countries need to pick up their economic slack etc.

We will be wiped out by disease. A rise in diseases such as whooping cough, tuberculosis, malaria, measles and even leprosy are creating public health concerns and could hit hospitals and health care systems already financially burdened by indigent illegals flooding emergency rooms and urgent care centers. Its how mother nature works .

Not in the least. Look at once great, and now terribly depopulated cities like Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Rochester, Syracuse etc. etc. There are plenty of places in the US that are dying and not growing. We need growth to remain viable & competitive.

America will no longer be. It will look like the EU, one big welfare state where no one speaks the same language.
