I'm on day 8 of a nasty sore throat and coughing up excessive bright yellow (occasionaly gray or green) phlegm. I've been to the doctor (yesterday, day 7) who says it's a virus and put me on rest and fluids.

My question is about whether my body's response seems abnormal?

It seems that people around me knock this out in 2-4 days whereas I am completely fatigued and very ill for more than a week each time. Could it be that I need to strengthen my immune system?

Thanks for the responses so far. A bit more information. This is the third time I've had the same thing and three different doctor's. All have said antibiotics are for a bacterial infection which is not what they say I have. Part of my question I'm curious about is whether others have experienced the fatigue and lethargy for such a long period of time. Again, thanks.

Its going around. You can take a expectorant which helps break up and loosen the phlegm along with a decongestant. Its about the only thing that helped us.

Robitussin® Head & Chest Congestion PE is good just be sure if the doc gave you anything to check with the pharmacists before taking with anything else.

If you have a cough with it then Robitussin® Cough & Cold CF

It took all of us a good 2 weeks to get over it. Drink lots of water to help the phlegm thin out too and rest

This is a fairly common effect of being exposed to chemtrail aerial spraying, this is taking place over most the civilized world at the moment, nobody is sure if this is an intended effect or not as information regarding chemtrail spraying appears to be classified, and officials will not admit that it is even going on, see links for more info, 3rd link is to forums, somebody there might be able to help directly..

personally, i have had some success with daily doses of a couple of crushed cloves of raw garlic and wheatgrass juice....knocked it out in 4 days, everybody around me either still has it, or it took on the order of 3 weeks to a month to sluff off....do some research.. good luck

Sometimes viruses just take a while to kick. If you smoke, you can prolong it. If you have taken the appropriate over the counter remedies when the cold/uri began you can suffer longer. If you are under 12 or over 40 it will take longer to kick. If you haven't slept for a long period to time - a day or two in bed, you may have it longer.

I think it's something that's going around at the moment! Both me and my husband (who usually shake these things off very fast) are up to day 8 of a similar thing. One sympton clears and then it manifests itself another way. Begger to shift. Fear not - you're not alone!

If you cough up green or yellow, you have a chest/bronchial or lung infection and you need anti biotics. I cannot believe the doctor, go to another one asap.

The VERY FIRST thing that comes to my mind is BRONCHITIS!
Go to ANOTHER Doctor as fast as you can!
You have a lung infection, and it MIGHT even be Phenomena!!
