The vast majority of it goes to charity. The rest helps keep the lights turned on and the water bill paid in the church building.

You are right, to help the pastor , and the up keep of the church.
electric, water. Church and Kitchen supplies.. ETC:
In our Church our pastors are always busy, working with the youth, and visting the sick, Helping those that are in need, proforming weddings, preaching funerals ..
We have many ministries in our church, 4 Sunday school classes, a youth ministry, and a Young Miss Ministry. and a womans Circle.. and all these take money to support them..

All churches use money as they see fit. It cost money to run a church and pay a pastor. a potion is given to charities like homeless shelters and third world feeding and medical care. If I didn't know what it was used for I wouldn't give. Why do you imply we don't know what it's used for. If a church didn't account for the money No one would give to that church.

The Bible teaches you to give 10% of your tithes and offering. The building, lights, gas, phone, maintenance, etc. What do you think these things are paid with. You owe it for being able to go to work and take care of your family. Its just 10% what can it hurt.

It's "Tithe" and in my church, it goes to pay for electricity, water and heat in the building, sponcer various groups and charities, send out missionaries, pay the pastors etc.... and even though the church I attend has over 3,000 members, none of the pastors have big ellaborate homes or fancy cars.

Yes it pays the preachers salary, the church utilities, and for missionaries. It also goes to help the poor. We also give to a children's home.

let's see...there's the mortgage payment on the church...electricity, heat, sewer and water, maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds, salaries of the pastor, assistant pastor, secretary and custodians...Sunday school books, bulletins, travel expenses for pastors to attend seminars and conferences, other supplies for the restrooms, kitchen, nursery, support for missionaries, gifts to the needy in our church and community, support for prison and hospice ministries, things like the cancer society, heart association, rescue squad and fire department, small college scholarships...it seems that the needs keep growing and growing, and yet we always manage to cover everything...it's called 'faith in action' and 'good stewardship'

I am told it is to run the church... If you are a true believer money should not come into it. Jesus himself said 'give unto Caesar'...
