I don't know where people are getting their information, but unless the judge specifically made it a condition of your bail that you not leave California, you are breaking no law and disobeying no order by leaving the state, so long as you are in court when you are supposed to be.
However, if your bail was posted by a bondsman, there may be a contract restriction voiding the bond if you leave the state. Make sure you read that contract before travelling.

Why waste your time asking this forum when all you have to do is call the bondsperson. Done deal. You're friend must be still high on crank. Taking a chance on spending a long weekend inside jail plus the expence incurred for more bail car impounds won't be much of a vacation. Your bud has other priorities than travel right now. Make the call for sure.

Yes they most definitely have to get special permission to leave. It is highly unlikely that such permission would be granted especially considering that not only is it a drug crime but it's meth we're talking about here. If he leaves without permission and gets caught he can also be charged with bail jumping. Even if you are out on bail you are still under the custody of the corrections system and there are certain expectations you must abide by. Weeks vacation? My eye. I bet your "acquaintance" is fleeing. BAD IDEA!!!

YES, Many times I have left the State that I live in. I was serving with the U. S. Army for 21 years. I have even left the confines of the United States many times. That is sad that people HAVE NEVER left the State. They don't know what they are missing. There is a BIG WORLD out there waiting to be discovered.

The Texas lawmen love to give their special greetings to people out on bail for possession of large amounts of meth. Only person more favored is a meth cook.
Better yet I recommend your "acquantance" book a 2 week Caribbean vacation. He needs to relax a bit - before they throw his *ss in prison.
Good luck.

Yes, a person on bail must get permission from the court to leave the state. No, they are not likely to get permission if the charge is possession of large quantities of illegal drugs.

Your friend had better check with his attorney/pd. I'm 99.99% sure the courts would be all over his butt. they may even make him it out in jail the time he has left before trial.
