My little boy has cuddly toys on his bed (which he put there) and every night he has to turn them upside down so he cant see the white eyes on them if he wakes in the night! I suggested not having them on the bed but he just arranges them upside down and goes to sleep. Besides that he's totally normal!

I'm 33 and I had the same fear...course I put them in the closet. It had a lot to do with Alfred Hitchcock movies. And sometimes a room at night when I"m sleeping is still scary...shadows on the wall. Probably too much TV and hyper activity before bedtime...makes the imagination run wild. BTW I grew up very well adjusted.

My son James and I have the same phobia: If we wake up at night we won't put our feet entirely on the ground. It's just something about it being dark.
My goddaughter has a phobia: She doesn't want any loose cords in her bedroom. She's 10 and ever since she saw Indiana Jones she is convinced any loose cords will turn into Snakes. Some voodoo magic.

when i was young i wouldn't sleep with my closet door open because if i woke up in the middle of the night i would think there was someone inside or my closthes would come alive and try to attack me, to this day i still close my closet door every night before i go to bed no matter what, i'm 18 and i turned out fine. plus your son will more than likely outgrow having stuffed animal on his bed. i also won't sleep with my door closed or my blinds closed all the way for their own reason it's just a security thing, if you make him leave them looking he will not feel safe.

I remember being like that when I was little. My dad always bought me porcelain dolls (I had like 30 of them) Plus my mom gave me this life size doll (bigger than me at the time). Every night my mom had to put them in the closet (they always stared at me) and in the morning she had to take them out again (talk about patience) I think the reason for me was the fact that my big brothers made me sit and watch child's play (I was only 5) What a bunch of meanies hey? anyways, to this day I am absolutley terrified of Chucky.LOL.... I have a 4 year old son and he is afraid of the grinch. the movie gives him night terrors.

lol i used to do the same thing! its my mom's fault though. no joke, she told me that stuffed animals were really alive and that they only wake up when people are asleep. so for a while, i was scared that they would see me and idk attack me or something. ive also been afraid of the dark since i was about 4 or 5. to get me to stay in bed at night, one of my babysitters told me that there was someone under my bed who would attack me if i got out of bed during the night. even today, i wont get out of bed in the middle of the night. if i do, i run, literally run, and jump back in bed. now, im a major germaphobe. i carry purell in my school bag, purse, car, everywhere.

Mine's terrified of crossing carpet grips! It's great, I know she won't wander off if I have to leave her alone for a few mins. Your boy will probably grow out of it, though I remember being taught that fear of seeing the white's of eyes is quiet common and cross cultural.
