Vintage style Wedding. I am planning this as a surpise for my Step daughter. This is her snd wedding & her husbands second wedding. One is catholic the other is jewish, so a chirch will not work. SOmewhere they can elope with about 10 friends & family, perhaps even take their small children, and then remain for their Honeymoon. Neither care for cold weather too much. They were going to just go to Vegas, but I am planning this as a surprise gift from her dad & me. maybe near a waterfall, a pretty mountain, a beach I am at a loss dor ideas. I only know that she got very sick in Greece and was in the I.C.U at a very primative hospiatal abut 10 years ago, so she weill not leave the United States. would appreciate any unique, original ideas very much

Well, if she loves wildelife, open, spaces, and is a bit more of a country person, I'd say the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch in Montana. It's a beautiful, quiet state with lots of open space. I haven't been that specific place, but I've read about it. I've always found Montana to be very pristene. It's the classic rustic sort of place, and you can rent large log cabins (you can also get cabins that are more secluded) so that the whole family can be there, and it has a four-star rating. The only thing is that Montana gets all seasons, so that may affect the weather(from what I know, the furnaces in cabins keep it very warm when needed). Visit mtnsky.com to check it out.

I would suggest the Greer Lodge in northern Arizona. It is a historical place, great amenities. secluded but not primitive.
From March/April and to about October, it is not very cold. It offers wonderful scenic views and a rustic atmosphere, hiking, horse back riding, and a look over a pond where ducks play.
The air is clean, not polluted like near or in a major city. There are places in the nearby town where one can get a massage or other holistic health offerings.
There are antique shops.
They do 'barnstyle' weddings, really nice.

Take a look here:

I live about 60 miles away and have helped remodel one of their cabins. If my son was going to get married, I would definitely suggest this as a wedding/honeymoon retreat.

for some reason I picture Carmel, California.
Its a rich yet rustically quiet type neighborhood with lots of nice terrain within easy driving distance in either direction, well groomed, clean air, and no skyscrapers to be found.
Clint Eastwood was mayor there for a while. The kind of town you'd like to move to if you won the mega millions jackpot and didn't want the world to know you exist.
The perfect kind of place to do something extraordinarily sweet like showing your approval of your DIL by planning her a surprise wedding for the rest of the family to enjoy.

You're very sweet - especially since this is your step daughter, but I'm worried that this may be too much of a surprise. I think a wedding is too personal to have someone else plan and spring on me. Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade. Just something to ponder.
