I'm not going to quote statistics here, since I have none, but given my own experiences, those of my friends, and given the enormous numbers of folks engaging in on-line romances and partner searches, does anybody want to speculate about why these things appear to have such abysmal odds? I finally concluded that part of it is that many of the judgments we make about people are unconscious - stemming from our past experiences, our family-of-origin issues, prior partners, current desires, etc. - and that these judgments simply can't be made until you meet in person. Then there is the whole question of learning information on-line, or on the phone, before meeting the person, and "projecting" onto them the image of what you hope they will be, or what you conjure up based on the info they give you.

Are there any other alternate viewpoints out there? Thanks for the responses.

I don't think they work because most people lie on those. You don't know whether they are telling the truth or not. If they live farther away they don't work because relationships need that fire. You need to hug adn kiss them. You can't if they live far away.

I think that you should try it and then learn it that way. You dont know what it is until you try it. Thats what I was told. I would like to give it a chance but I dont have anyone to try it with and I would like to try it.
