Our American Bobtail cat is VERY mean at times, actually hurting our Golden Lab? Is this natural for a bobtail? Is it because this is a ferile breed of cat?

This type of cat is one step away from being a wild animal. They live alone in the wild and they would see dogs as a natural enemy. If the cat feels threatened it will hurt the dog. On the other hand, I'm sure the dog is learning to stay well away from this wild cat! But then again, they dog shouldn't have to live in fear. If are really concerned for the dogs welfare maybe you should consider a new home for the cat.

I personally do not have one but my Grandmother does. Yes these cats can be very vicious. It is not perticularly the breed. Every cat has a personality. Cats also have a tendensie to hurt other animals because of free or preditorial. It is possible your cat is not very sociable. To make them become more sociable try becoming more close to them by spending more time with them.
