Only RETIRED miltary vets are authorized MAC filghts (and accompanying spouses out of CONUS). Depending on the time of year, they should plan on at least a few days waiting for a flight. Retirees go space available. No guarantee. I flew 'space A' to Japan and it took 6 days to get out of Travis AFB, (California)and 5 days to get out of Yokota (Japan) then in a few hours I was on a hop to McGuire AFB, NJ and another to Dover AFB, De. Military under orders, emegency leave, students going home on vacation and returning, then retirees.

Close to free, you have to buy the meal! The problem is getting one. You will be traveling "space A" with means space available. Here is how that works priority wise. If there is a flight that is going near your destination, and there is a seat that is not taken by someone on official orders you can take a seat it you are on leave! Honestly, I spent 20+ rears in the USAF and never got a free flight for leave. Plus MAC has not been around for a while! It is AMC or Air Mobility Command!

If they are vets and eligable for all benifits then the answer is yes. Just remember that sometimes its a long wait and Active duty have preferance. Also, Officers have preferance. They will be put on a list and everytime someone else shows up for the same flight they will be bumped down on the list. But the answer is yes. They can.

not unless they are retired. and even then, they are last on the list of priorities and can get bumped very easily.
