I am 8 months pregnant and am "teething" with one of my bottom wisdom teeth. My mouth has hurt now for almost 5 days and since being pregnant I cant do anything more for the pain than use orajel, tylenol and ice packs, which of course are barely even dulling the pain. Does anyone have any other pain relief methods other than drugs?? And does anyone know how many days my mouth will hurt like this?? I am starting to get mean because I cant stand being in pain anymore not to mention not being able to sleep because of the pain!

Actually I am 23 years old, married and from the midwest. Not everyone who is getting their wisdom teeth is a child.. Ignorant people..

You should call your Dentist and have them get you in. Just because you are pregnant does not meant that you can not see the Dentist. They may want to contact your OBGYN to get permission to take x-rays and pull the tooth. You will do no harm to your baby if you have the tooth pulled. Your doing more harm now to yourself then good. Most dentists will work on pregnant women and if they don't their ridiculous. I am a certified Dental Assistantant and Licensed hygienist and I have worked on plenty of moms to be. Do yourself a favor and go get that stinker out of your mouth so that you can prepare for the new baby.

The tooth could be infected which could be adding to the pain. An antibiotic would help with that but remember that anything you take gets transferred to you baby in small doses. Ask your doctor or dentist. Hopefully, you will be able to control the pain until after you have the baby. At this point, it would be hard to tell how the tooth is coming in without an xray, which they won't do while you're pregnant. Sometimes the tooth is impacted or growing the wrong way, it could be fused to the bone or have 8 roots or the roots are shaped in such a way that it's hard to get out without surgery. On the other hand, some of them pop out in a few seconds. If you can, at least, get rid of any infection that could be present you should be able to wait until after the baby's born. And, at 8 months pregnant, you don't want to cause extra trauma to yourself or your unborn child. What if you go into labour? Check with your doctor.

I SERIOUSLY suggest that you get it removed asap!! I had 2 of my wisdom teeth removed about a year ago. Seriously, being pregnant will NOT effect anything other than the fact that you are prolly already irritable a lot, and tired etc... and this is only making it worse.
If you go to the dentist just make sure they know you are pregnant (which im sure its not that hard to tell at 8 months. LOL)

I have NO suggestions on what you can do to ease the pain other than getting it removed. I still have one impacted! its killer but its also almost 3 thousand dollars to get it removed! :(

good luck, I hope you feel better!

I feel so sorry for you. I went through the very same thing when I had my second. Try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water-make it as salty as you can handle. I am in no way endorsing alcohol while pregnant but I was in so much pain that I used to just dip my finger in something like whiskey or brandy and then just rub a little on my gums. I would spit after to make sure I wasn't ingesting any alcohol. This does seem to help numb the pain and ward off any infection you may get. You poor thing I hope you make it through the next couple of months. I did have mine removed when my baby was afew months old. Hopefully if you just have to have it pulled out your dentist can just freeze the area for you. This doesn't pose any risk to your baby through breastfeeding (I don't know if this is a concern for you but it was for me) He did give me a prescription for tylenol 3's but I didn't get it filled and I found that just regular Advil (ibuprofen) worked well. I was just so happy to have them out! Good luck to you

you can get work done while you are pregnant, just make sure to get a note from your dr and make sure your dentist knows, though at 8 months im sure its obvious. They just need to take extra precautions. I had work done when I was pregnant also.

WOW.....Bummer......My wisdom teeth came in(all at once) when I was 18....BAD DEAL !!! I do feel sorry for you. Not much OTC will do . Maybe try clove oil-they say it works on toothaches- and most tooth pain meds have clove oil (or at least the chemical equivalent). Bright side ; when the labor comes one pain should cancel the other one out !!!

You CAN get the tooth removed while you are pregnant. It's probably worth getting this done. You will have ENOUGH to deal with when the new baby arrives!

put a teabag on it .
most wisdom teeth need to come out.
some can be life threatening if under the jawbone.
put aloe vera plant on it for instant relief.

Get them pulled ASAP! If you get an infection while pregnant you could pass it on to the baby.
