my daughter is about to make her first communion in may.i am very excited.ive began to look online at dresses and want her to have the best dress.(she is also going to be choosing the one she wants).i dont care how much money it costs.i want her to have everything from the veil,gloves, hair done and everything. the problem is my husband thinks im going to far.but to me,this is big in the catholic faith.he was raised lutheran. what do we do?

Do whatever you can afford. Yes it is a big deal for us Catholics, but don't go into the poor house over this. She's young and you have lots to look forward to. (prom homecoming dances concerts, etc)

We spent 4-5 thousand on the communion that we just did a few months back. It was well worth it.

Sounds a little overboard to me, don't embarrass her. A nice dress is enough IMO. But congrats on getting the kid to church, you did the most important thing you could ever do for her.

Why spend all that money when it's not nessessary? It doesn't matter what we wear, it's what's it your heart.
