You are definitely starting off with the right mindset. A safe amount of weight to lose per week is 1 - 2 pounds. To lose a pound a week, you would need to decrease your calorie intake by 3500 calories a week. You could do this by decreasing the amount you eat or increasing the amount you burn through exercise. You are looking at decreasing/burning about 500 calories a day. Double that if you want to lose 2 pounds a week. Also, diet is 80% and exercise is 20%. You need to eat healthfully with the right balance of carbs, fat, and protien (50%, 20%, 30%). You want to keep your fat intake less than 30% of your diet. Carbs are what your body uses for fuel (especially the brain). And protien helps to rebuild muscles. Keep in mind that fiber is going to help keep you full longer for less calories too.
I find that a great support group really helps. Be it a meeting place (weight watchers) or an online support group (www.self.com/forums). Plus they can share tips, tricks and help keep you motivated.
Dont forget to exercise. One of the best exercises is walking cause its free and can be done anywhere. Just make sure you walk fast enough to keep your heart rate up and work up to about 45 minutes per day.
IF you need any more information or support, send me a message.

Well the best way to get started is make sure you are drinking enough water. Your metabolism will increase when you change your eating habits. You should eat six small meals a day, two of them being snacks. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Start with 20 minutes a day, even if it is just walking in place. Normal weight loss should be 2lbs. per week. Stay away from the scale. You may not see results right away, but will see a difference in how your clothes fit. If you fall off the wagon, get right back on and don't give up. If you do decide to use weights, remember muscle weighs more than fat. Increase your activity slowly and you will be well on your way. GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

I can tell you from experience that the diet pills and miracle weight loss drugs are a waste of your money. I found that the Weight Watchers Points program is AWESOME!!! You can eat what ever you want but it's all based on how many points you are aloud in a day. For example if you are aloud 40 points a day you can eat a whole pizza if you want but its about 25 points so you would be able to have much more. Check out the weight watchers web site www.weightwatchers.com

Here is a link that can give you guidance on how to lose weight.
http://www.muscletech.com/NUTRITION/HIGH_PERFORMANCE_NUTRITION/ISSUE_3/index.shtml
You will need to learn which foods you can eat and which food will prevent you from losing weight. Generally low fat protein sources such as chicken, turkey, and fish, egg whites, etc. are good to eat. Red meat is fine once in awhile, but if you want to lose weight it is best to stay away from it for awhile because it is higher in fat. Fruit and veggies are obviously very important too. Never eat white bread or pasta. Eat whole wheat food such as Fiber One cereal. Many cereals are high in sugar and you should avoid sugar if you want to lose weight. Oatmeal is good too, but it has to be the large flake type, Not instant or pre-packaged flavour oatmeal because it has been processed and sugar has been added in the flavoured ones. Add your own flavour to oatmeal such as cinnamon, splenda (or stevia) and vanilla. For dairy, drink skim (non-fat) milk and plain yogurt with no sugar. You can add berries to sweeten the yogurt and add flavour. Cottage cheese is also a good source of protein, it is good if you mix it with fruit, I prefer slices of orange or mandarin oranges. It's a good idea to keep a food diary and track your weight,
This website does all the work (calculations) for you www.fitday.com
It will tell you how many calories you eat and lots of other stuff!
You need to do cardiovascular exercise to burn fat. Some activities burn more fat than others. Here is a link where you can enter your personal information, choose an activity, duration and it will calculate the calories you burn.
http://preventdisease.com/healthtools/articles/various_activities.html
Surf the web to find others. The important thing is work hard enough to get your heart rate up.Here is a link to a target heart rate calculator.

Weightlifting will also cause you to lose weight by raising your metabolism. The faster your metabolism is, the more calories you burn. Don't worry, weightlifting will not cause you to look like a bodybuilder. It will tone your muscles and your body will look sexy, slim and curvy. Nobody wants to look like Nicole 'Skeletor' Ritchie.
Buy a fitness magazine and surf the internet to find various weightlifting exercises that you can do, or join a gym and get a qualified trainer.
As you can see there is alot of work involved in losing fat. A HECK of alot more work than just doing sit-ups. If it was that easy everybody would be thin. It's not easy, that's why there are so many obese people. It takes two important things, work and education to lose weight. This should get you started!!!

Umm do not take heed to the people who say you're fats. You don't seem to be. A excellent peak for 5'eight" is a hundred and forty, and you're 136 this means that you are skinny. Weight average rule thing 5'zero" = 100lbs for every inch you will have to weigh 5 more lbs, so: 5'1" = a hundred and five lbs 5'2" = 110 lbs 5'3" = 115 lbs 5'4" = one hundred twenty lbs 5'5" = one hundred twenty five lbs 5'6" = a hundred thirty lbs 5'7" = 135 lbs 5'eight" = one hundred forty lbs and for guys it can be the same except it is 7 instead of 5 :)

Losing weight is not as hard as you think it is. It is best accomplished by a total and complete change in lifestyle.
Re-educate yourself on what food is. It is fuel for your body. The key is to regulate that fuel and not take in too many calories.
Here is a simple acronym to live by day to day...ELEM
Eat Less Exercise More
Start now. Don't get discouraged for any reason.
