There are no specific limit for the ADBA. Also, the old family Irish dogs were rarely above 25 lb. The UKC standard permits 30lb females. Here is an example of a petite female:http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=103233
and the breeders website http://www.geocities.com/chiliboysgamedogs/main.html but I don't know if this breeder is a good source.

Those little ones are so cute! Theyre beagle sized and the original not the monster pitbulls some breeders aim for that are really part Neopolitan Mastiff.

I am familiar with Staffordshire Bull Terriers. They are quite rare. I might get one from a shelter if I do.

I'm not that interested in AmStaff's because I think they're too "blocky" and not as small.

I know there are several breeders on the web that breed for small size, but more stocky APBT's like the staffordshire's. Now if they are reputable or not that is completely a different story.

Perhaps you could contact breeders in your area and inquire about buying the 'runt' of the litter, sometimes these dogs are quite smaller than their littermates. We came to have a sharpei that is quite smaller than most sharpei's. She came through a rescue whose AKC registered breeder (one that in our community shows dogs and is considered reputable) anyway this registered breeder dumped her off at this small home rescue so those coming to see the litter did not see this 'runt'. She didn't get her eyes tacked and that is how we heard about her, she needed the surgery immediately as her eyelashes were scratching her eyes.

All said and done Midnight is an excellent sharpei. She is great with kids, she is very healthy too. She will be 8 this year.

Our APBT seems to be smaller for her age, but you just never know with puppies. Either way no matter how large she does or doesn't get she is a great dog.

Good luck with finding the right APBT for you.

Look at the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. They are one of the 3 breeds that are grouped together to make the term "Pitbull". The 3 breeds are the American Pit Bull Terrier, The American Staffordshire Terrier, and The Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The smallest of the 3 is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier

I'm sorry, i do not know of any breeders, and i'm not sure which area you are in either. But if you want a small APBT try looking into a Staffordshire Bull Terrer. They look a lot like undersized pit bulls. They are very cute. And the FEW that i have met were very sweet.

What do you mean by "small size"? If you mean smaller than the breed standard, I would not think a reputable breeder would do that intentionally. I believe breeders typically breed to AKC standards. You can, however, find breeders who will have puppies that are too small to show and put them up for sale as a companion puppy. Please make sure you check out any breeder to make sure they are not a puppy mill.
