We have been friends after the split, but I am wondering do you think that she wants to get back with me. Why would she want to "check in" with me. The last time I texted her it was to tell her happy new year, after she had sent me one saying the same. Do you think she wants to get back together, or am I looking to much into this?

I think you are reading too much into it. Looks like she is just keeping a friendship alive. And since you text her on New Years she just might be keeping in touch. And the miss you and xoxo could just be a friendly gesture... She may have love for you and though you guys aren't to there she still loves you as a friend. If you prefere her not to text you just tell her.

She may not be accepting that things are over. Did you tell her it was completely over or did you say it was over because of the distance between the two of you? Either way, you need to let her know once again that it is over between the two of you no matter what the reasoning for it is. If she still insists on "checking in" with you, I suggest getting a new cell number and not giving it to her or anyone who might give it to her. Good luck my friend.
