We made a huge mistake going into Iraq in the first place. Our troops have done a great job despite crap leadership from the White House on down. We took our eyes off the prize, which is Bin Laden, and got bogged down in Iraq. I think we should pull out of Iraq and good riddance to those ungrateful people. We should send our troops to Afghanistanto find Osama and bring him to justice and then pull out of Afghanistan too and let them go back to living in the dark ages. They all hate us in that part of the world, lets get out and stay out. Bring our troops home to a warm welcome. The mess there isn,t their fault.

Yes, I care very much, and for many reasons. If we leave now things will get worse in Iraq and a terrible civil war will ensue, that we would be responsible for. Many people would die. The conflict could overflow into other regions of the middle east. The whole region could erupt in war at this point. There would be a huge humanitarian disaster, refugees would be flowing over boarders. Gas prices could reach $9+ a gallon.

I hate this war. Bush is a moron. But we are all ethically responsible now, we can't just do what suits us. The whole word is interconnected; if we make a bad move now it could come back to hit us later.

What makes you think you should have an opinion? You're female.
No, I'm not like that. I'm just trying to point out that Iraq is only a part of a struggle against Islamic fundamentalism, and if we were eventually to lose the overall struggle, under Sharia law, you would be in that circumstance. We can't afford to be so naive or myopic. And I'd go so far as to extend that to the average Iraqi citizen as well.

Very short sighted question because you are wrapped up in the emotional issues and what you read through IM.

I am going to try to be non-patronizing but you question, along with others ANNOYED ME!

Iraq is about BALANCE of POWER and HUMAN RIGHTS. There is also the oil issue and some semblance of stability in the Middle East is necessary so gas doesn't go to $12 a gallon. Then you might have to actually walk to school, sorry but not really.

Because of our postion in the World we have been elected POLICE for both human rights and the world economy. At $12 a gallon the free world comes to a screeching halt, the government will restrict person use of cars and allocate fuel to the necessary industries of defense, industry and power.

So please before you fill this forum with whinny questions with no real research or knowledge of the TOTAL PROBLEM / ISSUE do your homework.

Here is a question for you that has to do with the environment and limiting our use of fossil fuels (gas).

What will happen if ETHANOL becomes a popular substitute for gas?

You better care about what happens over there, because if we leave and the crazies percieve us as having been defeated, they are going to push every button we have to include attacking mainland America.

And all the people saying things like; "They have been killing each other for centuries" are being pretty narrow-minded. Europeans killed each other for centuries, and if you look at Bosnia, and of course WWII wasn't that long ago, you will see that peoples can change for the better. Heck, Europe has civilized themselves to the point of being endangered!

America has always been all about protecting the weak and spreading democracy, so yes, I care and I am proud of the men and women of our armed services who are carrying on that proud tradition.

With that kind of attitude, you should have gone to Washington to protest The US's involvement in Iraq.
I don't think Bush was right to get involved in Iraq, but even he has the decency to want to try to stabalize things before leaving.

Yes. I have this passion for a painted desert.
I think it would be nice if they (the Iraquis) would make an effort to irrigate some of their land and make it into some sort of green area rather than a terrible place to live. But, maybe that is not practical.

Pardon me if I don't fully respect the opinion on Iraq of someone who has never been. I am there currently and care deeply what happens to it after we leave.

What happens after we leave will accutely affect foreign policy. You should care about that.

After we end this Iraqi war, sure we should happens to Iraq. What if they invade us or worse? We have to keep our enemies close for as long as there is no peace in the world.
