Cold sores are contagious; particularly from when the blisters appear until they have completely dried and crusted over.

There is a possibility of spreading the virus for some time even after the skin has healed if your partner has a depressed immune system. However, if your partner is healthy, there should be no danger once the cold sores have completely dried and have crusted over.
