The coccyx bones of humanoids range from 3 three to 5 five bones and vary from person to person so why they say there are 206 bones i just don't know.

You probably couldn't sit though, but anyway when the pain subsides feel around gently for anything out of place, specific areas of pain etc, severity of bruising and get creative with a handheld mirror in front of full length mirror without twisting your posture.

and have a look

The only real way to determine if you have a fracture of your tail bone is to have an MD examine you and to have an x-ray done of the area to see. If you had an accident awhile ago, the doctor may see calcification on the x-ray,which would show an old injury.Otherwise an x-ray could show if you have sustained a recent injury. Only an x-ray can show if it is actually broken. However, about 10-years ago I injured my tailbone by being funny and jumping on my boyfriend's back, who is now my husband. Needless to say, I heard a pop but I didn't go to the doctor about it. I was in a tremendous amount of pain for the next two years.

Therefore, I would recommend that you go to the doctor and have an x-ray on your back performed in order to find out what is causing your lower back pain.

You would know because it would hurt like hell! It would be difficult to sit down because the pain especially on harder seats.

I had my coccyx removed not because it was broken but the symptoms were very similar.

It is a tiny bone but can cause a lot of bother.

Hope that helps.

If your tailbone hurts like crazy when you sit on a hard chair, it is probably fractured. I fractured mine when my feet slipped out from under me while roller-skating & I landed square on my butt. It took about a month to heal & was only a hairline fracture. A quicker & more accurate way to tell, is have an x-ray.

If it hurts, you probably either bruised it or broke it. If it hurts too much to handle go to the doctor.
