I went up to 37.5 mg maybe 1-2 wks ago and lately I've been feeling down. I don't know if it's because Christmas is over or what. I've been irritable and not very happy about anything. I do have moments where I'm happy and laugh but it seems mostly I feel blah. I don't think I was very depressed before I started this. I mainly starting taking paxil for social anxiety and to gain more motivation to take care of my 3 kids. Anyone have similar experiences?

When I first saw the beginning of your question I was thinking, "She must be taking too much"., Now that I see you bumped up your doseage...I'm certain you're taking too high a dose. This will cause tiredness, unmotivation...more depression.

I used to take Zoloft...this exact same thing happened to me...I lowered my doseage and felt more like myself again...I was diagnosed for social anxiety too. It's not necessary to take very much of this particular medication...the lowest dose possible is best.

I have 3 kids...I felt so groggy on the higher dose...I kept laying on the couch...required several naps a day to live on that dose!

Ease back down if the Doctor says it's okay...

u can ask ur dr about increasing paxil cr, an he can go as high as 40 mg. or he can give u another drug called tegretol that might work better then paxil cr. paxil cr can cause u to get depressed in some cases. i suggest when feeling down, talk to someone, a best friend, or someone u trust. talking will sometimes help more then medicine. listen to ur favorite music. get a friend u trust to babysit with ur kids an take a break for ur self. if u feel like crying an im sure u do at times, go ahead u will feel much better. i had depression and i still do sometimes. it works. god bless u, ill pray for u. ur going to be allright.

I didn't ever take Paxil or anything like it, but a close friend and an acquaintance did. Both of them ended up going off of Paxil because it caused them to gain a lot of weight (~50 pounds) and for that reason they became even more depressed.

paxil causes a number of side effects, but more often, it just doesn't work. I'd say you had a hormone imbalance and needed a specialist before suggesting drugs.... your hormones are STILL imbalanced, which is why you feel bad, and Paxil isn't masking your real problem.
Symptoms of an easily corrected imbalance are: ·anxiety - ranging from constant worry to panic attacks, phobias - claustrophobia, agoraphobia, nervousness , restlessness and inability to concentrate, depression – total hopelessness and despair, mood swings (depression/anger/out of control rage), racing pulse/ pounding heart, weakness, "rubbery" legs, lack of motivation/drive, feeling fed-up, anti-social behavior (wanting to be left alone and disliking people)

I've been taking 40mg of Paxil for years. It makes me feel like I have no energy and kind of like I don't get enough sleep. But I guess it's better that the anxiety. I take it for the same reason as you.

SSRIs can definately be sedating & 37.5 is a rather high dose. The holidays are weird. I was very depressed myself until they were over. Now I feel great. The blah feeling could be apathy which may be a result of the med.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Yes it can. http://antipsychiatry.org

Those medications are EXREMELY TOXIC!

You won't find the answer in a pill. They will only harm you.
