The wedding will only be my fiance and I. Since our reception is before and we are hosting, who should speak at the reception?

Yes, you need to speak especially to thank people for coming. Often parents and friends might also speak.

This isn't really technically a reception - but an engagement party. (Just curious as to why you are having it before and not after when you return???)

If you are hosting you may ask whomever you please to speak - a family member or very close friend - or speak yourselves since it isn't really a traditional reception and you are the hosts.

There are no "rules" just what seems appropriate for the situation - and only you know that.

Yay for desitnation weddings! We got married is Disney :)

Both of you should thank your guests for attending the reception. Since you are hosting, there is no need for anyone else to speak unless, of course, you would like them to make a speech or toast.

A reception BEFORE leaving for the wedding really isn't a reception.

you as a couple, and your parents. You could also have a few other family members or friends say a few things as well.
