is it proper to refer to a woman engaged to be married as "his" fiance'? In other words, is the term "fiance" equally accepted for both the male AND the female, or is there another title for the female?

According to the dictionary, it only applies to the man (her fiance). I guess I just learned from the above post what the term is for the woman, and I never knew that!

The first answer is correct - I just looked it up - don't listen to these other posters! It's fiance for man and fiancee for woman, but most of the people here don't know how to spell, anyway.

I would like to had that that "fiance" and "fiancee" both have corrupted meanings in today's world. Many jerks that are living with their boyfriend or girlfriends call them their "fiance" and you hear that a lot.

THERE SHOULD BE A FINE OR A PENALTY FOR THE PEOPLE BELOW SAYING IT'S THE SAME SPELLING!

Fiance'/Fiancee' is an asexual word. The difference is only in spelling. They mean the same thing when spoken because they are pronounced the same way.
