Is it safe to have one antivirus software running in the background and the others don't. Like having more than one antivirus installed and setting up one to run at system startup and the other don't run at system startup.

You install any number of progrms. But you can enable only one at a time. Others should be disabled. There are a number of antivirus and anti spyware in the market. Some are free and some are to be purchased. Please visit the following site and select a suitable free antivirus.

No. I installed 2 antivirus on my window xp the next morning
the computer go down ,I had to call tech.to fixed it .
removed 1 of them

Generally, antivirus programs just don't play well together when installed on the same computer.

I think use one at a time. You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

Absolutely not. You can not have 2 anti-virus programs installed at the same time.
