There's allot of talk going around of a global epidemic bad enough to make the plague look like the common cold being around the corner. What do you think?

It's called a pandemic. Yes it could happen. It is not here in the US, yet. The hospital I work for has conducted drills on how to handle the avian flu.

I believe that we have to be very vigilant in our surveillance of the epidemics that are waiting to happen. There are so many infectious diseases that are on the rise. They are as lo becoming so much more virulent. SARS is a great example. We already know that the Avian Flu has spread to water fowl in Europe. AIDS has spread drastically over the last 15 years. If it doesn't happen in a natural sequence of events, then it could be started by the religious groups who plot against the western world through bio terrorism.
I think it will happen and it will make the plague look like the common cold.
