I have a scar on my thigh from a relatively deep wound, but it's fully healed over and is at least 8 weeks old now. Over the past two days it's become really painful to the touch, and just my trousers brushing over it feels as though I'm being stabbed. It's not red or swollen or anything, although it's slightly hypertrophic (although it always has been).

Any ideas as to what's causing the pain and what I can do to stop it? It's REALLY painful!!!

no, they are not infected, trust me, if they were they'd be oozing puss. i just so happen to have a burn scar from self-injury from a few months ago and it's about 3 inches long. it's purple, it's keloided, it hurts still to the touch and it itches really really bad. thats normal. it takes scars a loooong time to heal, and for burn scars can take years to heal. but i got a remedy for ya. go to wal mart and get Mederma for scars, it's a tube of medicine (that smells like roses, no joke) that you can rub on the scar like ten times a day (well, i do) and in a few months the scar will fade and become more smooth. time is the best treatment. :-) my new form of masachism is tattoos now, they look much better. professional ones ofcourse. :-)

use a antiseptic like iodine and cover it up using a bandage every day as this will attack whatever is causing the pain espicially if it is an infection. i know this sounds stupid but it actually does work rub olive oil or vegetable oil bought from health shops onto the scar not only will this take the pain away it moisturises and heals the skin.
