You could have a bad mouse gone bad, but I had that happen to me before and what I did was reload my windows and it solved it.

I formated my disc. It was time to rid the garbage.

Is it Wireless?

This happens to save the battery - simly click the mouse button once to activate it again.
If it is wired, and optical it again must be to save the laser (led) from overheating and being damaged.

Also enusre that the mouse is working fully by:

↓ Contol panel
↓ Printer and other hardware
↓ Mouse
↓ Harware

and look for the status to say the device is working.

Because maybe your mouse thinks hes a security guard and finishes work at 5 pm

1. there may be a driver conflict. delete any other driver than the one that came with it in device manager.

2. the driver is no good. delete it and let windows use the generic driver.

3. the mouse is bad. return it to the store. that happened to me with a tablet mouse.

It shouldn't. Turn off your computer then unplug and replug the mouse back in. You could also check start, control panel, mouse
