We recycle either way, but if you're familiar with the percentage reused or the process of recycling them, can you tell me which is better?

Making plastic uses less energy than making aluminum cans. However, recycling cans is better than recycling plastic since the energy it takes to recycle plastic basically makes it pointless to recycle.

I am not an expert, but I would guess plastic would be more environmentally friendly because it is non-biodegradable. The plastic would be there in the environment doing damage, but it would not dissolve and pollute the surrounding area in minute form.
On the other hand, cans rot and disappear unless they are aluminum, however the materials in cans would then pollute the environment unless contained.
Ultimately, they are both damaging to the environment, and I would think both would be very good things to recycle. That is the solution in the big picture.
Good question.
