anyone know how to get ssi or disability with rsd/crps diagnosis?

i was wondering if anyone has been succesful in getting ssi or disability with a dignosis of rsd/crps. how long did it take? did you need a lawyer? does the govt. recognize rsd as a disability?

my friend has been diagnosed with this horrible thing too. I am sorry. She is on workman's comp with it due to an injury at work (obviously). Workmans comp will no longer approve any treatments for her...she physically unable to return to work...but the $ she receives is not enough to pay her bills... it is a disabling disease for sure. I think the government recently acknowledged it.
