Chemotherapy is a treatment for cancer that uses certain drugs, usually injected through an IV tube, to help kill cancer cells in a person's body. Since cancer cells are cells that reproduce very very quickly, these drugs target cell reproduction and tend to affect all cells that reproduce rapidly, such as the cells in the lining of your stomach and your hair. This is why lot of people lose their hair during chemotherapy and often have to change the foods they eat to ones that won't upset their weak stomach. Lots of people get very sick from chemo (as in vomitting and getting very very tired after treatment) because it is technically poison. Also, it will probably affect your friend's immune system, so they will probably get sick more easily because the cells in the immune system (white blood cells) also reproduce rapidly. This means you should stay away from your friend if you are sick, even if you just have a cold, because your friend could catch it very easily. Your friend may develop these side-effects, but it is normal. You are right to be worried, but as far as cancer treatments go, chemo is highly effective.

You are a very good friend. The best thing you can do for your friend is to be there for them.

Hope this helped.

That would be Chemo Therapy for the radioactive isotopes (chemicals) they are injecting into her body to kill cancer. It is OK to be worried in this case but it is best that you just stand by your friend and keep both your spirits up as thinking positive with chemo helps as much as the drug. We will all pray for you and your friend even though we don't believe. This is a case of beliefs do not matter, what matters is that we care.
