If we really evolved from chimps and apes, then how come there are still chimps and apes out there? I mean if the next thing was humans there shouldn't be any monkeys anymore. Right?

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well-acquainted. (The Noble Quran, 49:13)"

As far as I know, Evolution theory does not say we evolved from chimps and apes. What it says is that we have a common ancestor. The current estimate is that the chimp/human lineages diverged from a common ancestor about 6-7 million years ago. Just like dogs, bears, weasels and raccoons have a common ancestor but today are very different from each other.

Apes, monkeys, and humans all came from a common ancestor. All the Apes, monkeys, humans, and previous ancestors to all of them have died off, except for what you see around today. Apes, monkeys, and humans have all evolved the same amount. There is no necessary direction to evolution. We don't come "after" apes and monkeys.

Think of a branch that comes out of the trunk of a tree. The trunk still continues upwards and there are other branches.

Wrong!

You do not understand how evolution works. No one said that humans evolved from chimps and apes. What they say is that humans, chimps and apes have a common ancestor, just as dalmatians, foxes and chihuahuas have a common ancestor.

If one species evolves from another, it does not mean that the first species disappears, either.

Read the book.

We did not evolve from chimps or apes. This is a common misconception.

We evolved along side the chimps and apes, from a common ancestor, which was neither a chimp or an ape and is now extinct.

No. Since I'm sure you must have been taught evolution in school, you know that we didn't evolve from chimps and apes, but from a common ancestor to them. One that no longer exists. Chimps and apes are another path on the evolutionary road. That's the way they evolved, we evolved differently.

ok.. humans didn't evolve from chimps and apes, the species we evolved from are gone, they were Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Ergastor, Homo Sapien, etc.

how can you be so ignorant to question evolution and accept creationism and not actually look at the facts, don't say you have because by saying we evolved from chimps and apes you have already proven how uneducated you are in this matter.

there is actual physical dna evidence that proves evolution.. you get that, evolution is PROVEN, but because of christian society no one is allowed to accept it as fact, that is pathetic. do some research. here's a start

http://www.becominghuman.org/

http://www.onelife.com/evolve/manev.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_evolution

there you go, educate yourself, then ask the question again if it is necessary.

Humans did not evolve from chimps. Humans and chimps evolved from a common ancestor. If you want to attack evolution, then at least learn enough about it to make more intelligent statements.

The reason we still have apes is because we evolved from a type of ape. we have 99% of genes in common, so that one percent makes us a diferent species. that one percent most likely made us evolve and mordern apes to not. more reasreach has to be done, but that is an accepted theory.

I suggest you read up on evolution a little more. Try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution and look at "Misunderstandings."

I'll try to explain it to you... Imagine there is a group of apes. Part of the group breaks off and goes to live somewhere else. The group that stayed happens to stay the same genetically. The other group finds itself in a situation that causes it to evolve. That's why there are many different species.

It's kind of similar to how humans from Africa are slightly different from those in Asia. In Africa, their skin became darker to protect them from the sun. The humans in Asia were not exposed to the same intense sun, so they stayed light-skinned.

You will not win this one and will be bashed all over this section. See it isn't the apes of today, its another "kind" . . . . that no longer exist . . . . . . of course. . . . . . ask the next question and see how they justify it . . . . . why aren't there naked people coming out of caves . . . . . .here I will answer it for you . . .. .all those species we "evolved" from are gone . . . . .. so now humans are the next evolved thing from it . . . . . .. . anyway silly isn't it. I know where you are coming from but they will just be mean to you. And coming from an intelligent designer is ridiculous? Ha they should really be determining what ridiculous is?

OO AHHH OO AHHH I mean scratch your head one time and when your at the zoo picture it . . . . . .. . . . . . ridiculous.

God Bless and keep it up just don't be offended by the baboons!!! I mean ape descendants or was it monkeys . . . . . .fish? Sorry I have been on and off here all day just taking a day off from hectic life to only be disappointed with the kind of monkeys that are on here.
