How would you know if the other person who you are chating with on the iternet is a male or a female?

I suppose you wouldn't know for sure unless you meet them in person. Using a webcam won't prove it, they could cross dress.

use a cam and while using the cam get them to hold up the correct newspaper with that days date on it that way u know it more real and what not than a pic
