I heard that it doesnt get digested at all and it just stays in your stomach and makes a crazy mess that no surgery can ever clean?

Swallowed gum for over 20 years with no problems. Not to worry. Actually, my 2 yr old ate an entire pack of colored gumballs one day. When he pooped, it had all of the colors in it! Looks like it just came out with everything else (lol)

That's half right. Gum does not get digested (why would you want it to, there's no health properties.)
However, it does not stay in your body. It makes the necessary "travels" through the stomach and intestines and is excreted in fecal matter (poop, in case you didn't know what that means).
