The best red wine I have ever had the luck to taste is Chateau Pichon-Longueville 1985.
From Bordeaux, I drank this when it had already been aged for 11 years and it is probably still drinking today(if you can find it and afford it) as 1985 was a fantastic vintage.
The levels of taste in in were vast and varied and the length of palate was huge. If I had the dosh I would happily invest in a couple of cases.
The best white I ever tried, is Villa Maria "Clifford Bay" Sauvignon Blanc. Every vintage I have had remains top quality, and it is always fresh, and oily dry just the way good Kiwi Sauvignons should be. A bit steep at £14
Rose is a bit of a dilemma, but arguably the best rose is Geoff Merrill's Grenache Rose. 14% alcohol and excellent summer fruit, well worth a trip to the offy.
You missed out on Champagne and if you ever get the chance Billecart-Salmon Blanc de Blancs is fantastic and if you are trying to pull, get this from the fridge and it won't only be the cork that's popping.

If you want white you can't beat White Cloud a New Zealand white for about £5 a bottle. Red then you should try Spanish wines, easy drinking smooth Rioja or Slightly spicy Crianza. Enjoy x

A bottle of red wine made from blackberry, apple and elderberry. I drank the rest but one bottle was put under my sink for some reason and i found it three years later. Never tasted anything like it, me and a friend drank it and have botjh been missing it ever since.

Ken Brown, Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley, 2004.
We (my husband and I) discovered it last March when we toured the San Ynez wine district in California.
