I just watched 'the Queen' and was surprised that QE II and others members of the family seem to go out without any protection/guard on the grounds of Balmoral Castle. How is this huge area guarded so well that bodyguards are not needed?

My Sister stays just a few miles away - from Balmoral - don't let the film fool you - the place is crawling with people in camouflage gear..with strange looking weapons - pretending to be Stag hunting...

Balmoral Castle and grounds are guarded. Because you did not see any apparent 'guards' does not mean they are not present.

What if they've got a small SAS unit in there?

The first thing that comes to mind is, don't believe everything you see on tv! For every half hour realty show they tape about 10 hours of film and edit it down to that 20 minutes you view. Producers can pretty much cut and paste anything to look like anything at this point!

Lorne, very funny answer about the Corgis, thanks, you made me laugh out loud!

I can assure you that if someone tried some rather ill-tempered SAS men will have a bullet in you,but relax they'll have silencers and the general public won't be offended about the noise.

The grounds are in fact patrolled by flocks of long billed pecker geese, if intruders are detected the geese make so much noise the intruders have to flee.

It is guarded very well, by armed officers, as you would find out if you tried to do mischief to the Queen or her relatives.

You do realise that by asking this question has now raised a 'red' flag' and currently the Secret Service/MI6 are trawling through every file held on you to find out who you are......
