How does one grow and mantain dread locks?

How long does it take to grow, and how long does it last for?
Does it hurt?
Do people think it is gross?

I'm sure its not great to turn up at, say a job interview with dreadlocks but, for temporary dreadlocks tangle you hair by brushing it botton to top with a comb and twirl strands of it into locks. use hairspray to keep it and twirl/roll the strands regularly

dreadlocks are just messy strands of hair

(doesnt hurt at all, but use lots of hair conditioner to bring your hair back to normal!)

I had dread locks for 2 years, and I didn't have too much trouble maintaining them and keeping them clean. But I didn't grow them the natural way. I got the knotty boy dread lock kit. It comes with wax and suppies you will need. You can also buy special dread lock soap to keep them clean. If you get bored of them, there is a kit available to remove them without having to shave your head. Go to www.knottyboy.com and look around for a kit you want to order. I wanr you though, if you get your dreadlocks wet, be sure to blowdry them, because there is a chance they will grow mold on the inside(i know, its gross, but you just have to maintain them). If you keep them clean and waxed, they aren't gross, and people won't think they are gross. It hurts to remove them because you have to use the special shampoo and conditioner, then comb them out, but it is better than shaving your head.

It takes a while depending on what kind of dreads. A lot of people think it is disgusting.

you have to twist your hair and keep your hair moisturized and make sure you wash it every 2 weeks.no it does not hurt.some people thing its gross .but if you keep them up then they wont look gross .are you getting dread locks.
