I do not think that there is one particular breed that has better toenails than others do. With my two Shih Tzu's one had long straight nails and the other one had nails that curled under in the shape of a scoop. The best thing to do is to trim their nails frequently. The best thing that I have found to trim dog's nails is in the bird aisle at the pet store. It is a small pair of scissors that prevent you from cutting too much nail off and cause bleeding. My vet recommended these to me. They cost about $8.00.

You would want a small breed dog. I have hardwood floors and have 2 Yorkies. No mater what kind of dog you get you will always need to keep their nails trimmed and I don't think a dogs nails will scratch up a hardwood floor.

All dogs have nails unless you take them to the vet and get them declawed then you'd never have to worry about them hurting the furniture or the floors in your house. I have hardwood floors, furniture, 2 dogs with nails. When I move into my new house I'll be taking them down to the vet to get their nails taken off. So no more digging holes in my yard, or clawing my furniture ever again. Or scratching the heck out of their bodies trying to get that itch and making themselves all pink.

You can get any dog just make sure to keep their nails trimmed. My dad has hardwood floors and he has inside dogs and never had a problem with them scratching the floor.

ok girl this is how it is, its your parents home, if they don't want a dog to scratch the floors with their nails then you either put down alot of rug or you go with out a dog that simple.... all dogs have nails.... good luck....even bunnys have nails so getting a pet of any kind except a fish, or bird is not going to help ya out sorry.

i would say an English poodle it,s big and likes to play but never jump on you unless you tell it too, or a beagle it dose to any thing like jumping it jest stays on the floor and it,s good for huntting. i had a beagle and never had had a problem from dog nails, the only problem is they only live 10 years.
