This is called bruxism and a lot of people have it, including me. There are some tooth guards you can get and wear at night to prevent you from damaging your teeth. I take melatonin, which is an over the counter tablet that helps you relax at bedtime. It also prevents or helps contain restless leg syndrome.

You can buy a moldable mouth guard at a pharmacy. Thats a cheap first step. If no luck with that see your dentist.

a lot of dentist can make you a night gaurd i had a girlfriend who had one it is basicly a mouthgaurd that fits really well so it cushions some of the chomping you do in the night

See an orthodontist and he will give you a night gaurd. I had the same problem.
