About Me
My niece ran away with her baby............need help?
She's 20yrs. old and is mentally retarded. She left with her small baby. I have custody over and she's been with me since she was 11. I'm really worried about the baby. What can I do? She's 20 so is there anything I can do about it? She has no idea who the father of her baby is.

The thing is I think that she is at her boyfriends house (he's slow too). I think his mom is keeping her away.
her boyfriend lives with his mother.

Um, if this is a serious question, you need to call the local authorities and explain the situation. They'll likely put her and her daughter under Missing Persons status.

Oh My Gosh, I am so sorry. Listen, you need to file a Missing Person's report at the Police Station tomorrow. Tell them your niece is mentally retarded and you have custody of her and you are worried the baby may be in danger. In most states, mentally retarded people arent allowe to have full custody of their kids.
Why did you let her have a baby? Maybe you should take her to Planned Parenthood and get on on the Mirena IUD that lasts for 5 years, unless you want to raise a whole bunch of her kids. But thats up to you. She may be out here having sex agian. Good Luck.

You have custody of the niece or her baby? Not sure I understand that, but either way I would certainly call the police and explain the situation to them and ask for help.

is she legally competent? if she is not under guardianship and has legal custody over the child, you would need to challenge her guardianship in court, in which case you need to have someone ready to be the child's guardian. You would need to consult an attorney and to prove that she is an unfit parent, which is difficult if she is the natural mother and the child shows no signs of abuse or neglect.
but if you just straight up can't find her and you are not the legal guardian of either her or the child, there is not much you can do except look for her and try to reason with her.

well at this point you need to call the people you know that she would run to if you did that than call the cops to do a police search, but than again shes 20 to whos to say that she doesn't know what to do with a baby even if she is retarted cause being a mother to a child doesn't have to take a smart person it take a loving and caring person...

Call all of her friends and relatives who live nearby and see if she went there. And make sure you let the police know. Be sure to put fliers with her picture up at the post office and any public place that will allow you to. Good luck.

If not, than i would get a private investigator, find her bring her back, she really isn't reasonsible, But than again u said she left her small baby, did she take him/her or not? need more info. Get off the computer and call the police and even go with them to the boyfriends house, and or drive around and ask about her whereabouts (show photos to people), but get your butt off the computer.
