Come on now...why would someone pay double for a package of bacon to know that the animal was given psychological counseling before it was taken to the slaughter house?

Whole foods is expensive, and I'm not sure about that counseling thing, but they do have many gourmet items at realistic prices that cannot be bought anywhere else.

And their produce section rocks! When freshness really counts they deliver! For example Kale in most supermarkets looks like its been lying on the floor for a week if they have it at all, whereas Whole Foods has many varieties of Kale, each looking like someone just went back out the back door and cut a perfect bunch from a vegetable patch just for you. To that end you do get what you pay for. On the other hand I'd never pay $8 for a box of strawberries ... even if they were dipped in gold!

Yeah, some of their items are no better than what you get in a grocery. But if you need some special item sometimes that is the only place you can find it.
