I think you should report this to your doctor.
There are several arterial diseases that act this way,
like a blood clot, or PD = peripheral artery disease. ( PD is advertised a lot on TV right now)
Get a checkup, and ask if they'll send you for
a Doppler check on your legs. This is basically like a sophisticated ultrasound, but it's sound waves and can let the
technician hear the blood flowing. There are also other
tests to test the blood flow through your legs.
Being 48 myself? We have to start watching, and that means
making our physicians aware of our concerns.

Are you on any medication because some medication can effect the circulation in your legs. I would go and ask your doctor. I had the same sort of pain when I was taking a certain pill and he took of that pill and put me on another than the pains stopped.

Till then try a sit with your foot higher than you heart to help the circulation in your legs, but still go and see the doctor about this.

Could be a symptom of Restless leg syndrome. Its similar to sleepwalking, except you stay in bed. Or you cpoul have a potassium deficiency. This can be addressed by over-the-counter supliments or by eating bananas. Lots of potassium in those things. If the pain persists see a doctor. It may be a circulation problem.
